This automated metallophone is made in my leisure time and controlled by MiDi. When a note is played the self made solenoids (made with an uv 3d printer) hit the perfectly tuned tubes. Diving into the physics of solenoids, midi for the first time and music theory had a high learning curve but it succeeded well.
This is an autonomous Metallophone. The length of the aluminum pipes are calculated and sanded until it got the right frequentie for that particular note. The notes range from C4 till . Solenoids, which are entirely self made, are used to generate the music. The solenoids consists of an iron core, magnetic wire, magnets, a 3D printer frame and spring.
At the end of the video on the first slide I show you how it’s made.
